My frustrations with KISS

Sometime last year right after I stopped posting I picked up an Impulse RC Alien frame, kiss fc, kiss 24a escs, and emax red bottoms motors.  I had so few issues and enjoyed flying for almost a full year before coming back here to post.  I simply didn't have anything to say since everything was working so great... well, mostly.

Initially everything fit together perfectly and setup was a breeze.  The quad flew amazing and I didn't have issues until I had to flash the kiss escs to the latest firmware to support dshot.  To do this you have to do some soldering on each esc, grab a serial number, post that to a website, and it tags firmware specific to the serial number and allows you to flash it.  3 escs I had flashed fine but another one just wouldn't work.  I had to buy a new escs and ended up getting 2 so I had a spare.  After awhile I had a good crash that fried an esc.  No problem, I have a spare!  Well guess what.  I didn't test the spare and it was DOA.  Since it had been a few months my warranty wasn't void and I ended up having to purchase yet another esc.  I've had probably 7 kiss escs in my possession and 2 of them were bad out of the box.  Not a great track record.

Next is the FC.  I could always connect to the bootloader and flash it without a problem.  However getting the gui to actually remain functional has always been an issue.  Now it connects but the gui is completely unresponsive.  Is it my board, my usb cable, drivers?  I'm sick of messing around with it.

I'm going back to betaflight in terms of FC.  I was going to stick with the kiss escs because they are rock solid when they are working.  However, all these new blheli32 escs are coming out for less money.  I can't see a reason to stick with the kiss 24a escs at $25 a pop when I can get a dys 35a for $18 or racerstar 35a for $15.
